Pianoteq is a premier instrument with options galore. Now in Version 5, Modartt isn't pulling any punches. For the most part, Pianoteq lived up to that promise. Pianoteq weighed in at 30 megabytes (yes, megabytes!) and promised to hang with the big boys of the sampling world. I deleted the (greyed) plugin from the synth rack, then added pianoteq 5, and so far the world is ok again.

Pianoteq 5 continues on with a very similar look and feel as its previous versions. Pianoteq 4 is defined as the future of virtual pianos and offers the best and latest available technology. Back in 2008, after upgrading my samples hard drive to a massive size to accommodate my instrument library (which was growing at an alarming rate) I stumbled upon Pianoteq 3 by Modartt and was intrigued by the concept. This resulting satisfaction in my playing. I was so happy when I lower the sound speed to around 260 m/s.

I have the Pianoteq PRO version 7.5.3, and I am not sure if other version have this setting. It sounded bizarre to me at first as well. Couple days ago, after I figure this out for so long, I finally found the right setting with found on SOUND SPEED Settings. If this sounds bizarre to you, don't worry. I have been on the road, needed a good piano sound and tethered off of my iPhone to get the latest version of Pianoteq installed on my laptop.
5 years into ownership of Pianoteq and I can't help but continue to be amazed that this great sounding piano could ship on a set of floppy disks.
It’s been possible to choose mono, stereo or binaural output for a while, but now there are 15 mic models available which can be manipulated more fully.
Drag Pianoteq 5.0.1 to the Trash (or right click on it. Open up the Finder, click Applications on the left side, and then select Pianoteq 5.0.1. Option 1: Drag Pianoteq 5.0.1 icon to the Trash. New in Pianoteq 5 is an expanded configurable mic section. If Pianoteq 5.0.1 cannot be quit normally, you can select the app in Activity Monitor, click the large red Quit Process button in the left corner and click Force Quit button in the pop-up dialog. Whats new in version 4.5.1 Version 4.5.1 has fixed a crash in the delay effect and fixed crash with midi automation of some. A ‘Random’ button helps out here by dialing in a bunch of settings at random. There is a certain level of awe that I feel every time I fire up the latest version of Pianoteq (I've been a Pianoteq user since version 3). Pianoteq can be run in standalone mode and as a VST/AU/RTAS plugin.
